Field Guide
Choosing the Right Wood
Every E. Adams project begins with the wood. The species you choose affects more than appearance—it influences strength, weight, durability, maintenance, texture, and how the project develops character over time.
Understanding Our Pricing Guide
Wood pricing changes based on availability, grade, thickness, board dimensions, and the amount required for your project. The guide uses $ for value, $ for moderate, $$ for premium, and $$ for luxury or specialty woods. These levels compare species rather than provide a final project price.
Outdoor & Poolside Projects
Learn about Western Red Cedar, Eastern Red Cedar, Cypress, Southern Yellow Pine, White Oak, and Sapele for outdoor durability.
Indoor Projects
Explore Black Walnut, Hard Maple, Ambrosia Maple, Poplar, and Pine for indoor furniture and casework.
Live-Edge & Specialty Woods
We source one-of-a-kind live-edge slabs and specialty woods for custom statement pieces.
Availability & Custom Pricing
Wood availability and pricing can change based on species, grade, board dimensions, and current supplier inventory. Custom dimensions, premium hardwoods, live-edge slabs, specialty finishes, and larger outdoor-living projects are quoted individually.
Natural Variation
Grain direction, knots, mineral streaks, color variation, and small checks are natural features of real wood, not manufacturing defects. Outdoor projects also require reasonable care in Florida sun, rain, humidity, and pool chemicals.
